Drummers, percussionists and timpanists from all over Europe will gather in Bodø this weekend. Together with them you can experience concerts, master classes and workshops with drums and percussion.
At the opening concert you will hear the Arctic Philharmonic Sinfonietta together with percussionists from the festival.
Highlights from the festival in 2022:
On the programme there is a commissioned work by the Swiss composer Domenico Melchiorre, written especially for Bodø Beat and the sinfonietta. The work takes in use several especially built percussion instruments, made for Melchiorre’s music.
We will also hear the work City Life, by the minimalist composer, Steve Reich. Reich uses a lot of modern percussion instruments and includes all of these in typical city life sounds from New York as a part of the music. We can f. ex. hear traffic noises and a recording of an emergency call connected to a bomb attack in 1993.
