We are looking forward to welcoming star violinist Lorenza Borrani to the Arctic Philharmonic for the first time. Borrani is an internationally, highly sought-after soloist, chamber musician, concertmaster and orchestra leader.
You might remember seeing Borrani’s name on our programme for the spring season of 2020. This was one of the first concerts that got cancelled, due to the pandemic. We are really looking forward to welcoming her to Tromsø on our second attempt.
The main work of the concert will be Schubert’s String Quartet no. 15 in G major, arranged for string orchestra by Lorenza Borrani herself. The quartet was originally written in 1826, only two years before the composer’s death. As well as Schubert’s string quartet you will hear a piece by Agnes Ida Pettersen, who previously has worked with Borrani when she was permanent guest leader with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra in 2020. The piece is composed especially for this concert.
Lorenza Borrani has been the leader of The Chamber Orchestra of Europe since 2008, as well as guest leader with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra says she is one of the best leaders they have ever had, being charismatic, creative and unconventional in a new and different way.
