Christmas Ballet 2019

Welcome to a marvellous pre-Christmas ballet filled with beautiful music and dance, a large pinch of love and a small dose of Magic.

Dates and tickets

The stage is set for this year’s big Christmas ballet!

This year we present The Nutcracker with music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky played by the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Tabita Berglund. This promises to be a colourful and exciting performance featuring children and young people from Pias Ballettstudio on the stage.

The popular ballet is based on the story of the children Clara and Fritz and all the adventures they experience with The Nutcracker. They fight together against the Mouse Queen and travel with the Snow Fairy to the kingdom of the Candy Fairy to find the lost candy child.

It’s Christmas in the home of the Stahlbaum family. There is a large Christmas tree in the living room and many guests come to celebrate Christmas with the family. Klara’s godfather, Drosselmeyer, makes watches and magical toys. He entertains the guests with four life-size dolls dancing around the room. He then gives presents to the children and Klara receives a very special gift – a Nutcracker doll.

A short while later the guests leave the house and the children go to bed. Klara wakes up in the middle of the night and goes downstairs to the living room to fetch her Nutcracker doll that she left under the Christmas tree. She falls asleep by the tree and in her dreams enters a Christmas fantasy in which the Nutcracker doll comes to life and takes her on an exciting adventure.

We guarantee wonderful dancing and musical experiences along with a solid portion of the Christmas spirit!
