We will hear Miriam Helms Ålien and Henning Kraggerud in Atterberg’s suite for violin, viola and string orchestra. This piece was originally written for two violins and organ, but was later re-written as a suite for violin, viola and strings.
Miriam Helms Ålien and Petter Richter will perform one commissioned piece each, both composed by Marcus Paus. Petter Richter will play Decameron: Concerto Rifugio, a piece that was composed in the middle of the pandemic, which gave the composer associations to Giovanni Boccaccio’s Decameron. Miriam Helms Ålien will perform Voyage for solo violin and strings. This piece has quotes from earlier pieces by Paus, and it presents many musical memories from his journey as a composer.
The last piece in the concert will be Brahms’ string sextet no. 1, composed in 1860. A true romantic piece.
