Principal TIMPANI with obl. percussion, Bodø

The Arctic Philharmonic has a full-time permanent position open as a Principal Timpani with obligation to play percussion, with work-base Bodø. The position has duty as Sectional Leader.

The Arctic Philharmonic is an expanding orchestra. Today, the group of musicians in Bodø is a Sinfonietta of 15 musicians with one musician on each part. A significant part of productions are co-productions together with the group of musicians residing in Tromsø. A typical season covers a broad range of repertoire, including chamber music, contemporary music, symphonic repertoire, ballet and opera. Read more about the Arctic Philharmonic’s structure HERE.

Work language is Norwegian. The orchestra offers reimbursement for language lessons.

Salary: Remuneration is in accordance with CREO’s prevailing remuneration scale for Arctic Philharmonic (Gross fee NOK 583 958,- – NOK 651 301,- (depending on seniority).

Deadline for applications: 1st of June 2020
Selected candidates will be invited to audition.

Audition (by invitation): 17th and 18th of August 2020 in Stormen Concert Hall, Bodø.

Audition repertoire: Note: American style layout of timpani.
– Timpani: Etude no. 45 from Pauken und Kleine Trommel-Schule mit Orchesterstudien von Professor Franz Krüger.
– Snare drum:  Etude no. 4 from Douze Études pour Caisse-Claire by Jacques Delécluse.
– Piece of your choice of 4-mallet modern solopiece on either Marimba or Vibraphone (max 10 minutes)

The audition repertoire will also include prepared orchestra excerpts (will be available for download here soon).
Candidates that reach the final round of the audition will be offered reimbursements for travel costs up to a total of NOK 2000,- on presentation of receipts.

Finalists should anticipate to play some weeks in the orchestra as a part of an extended audition (remunerated as freelance commission).
